Youth Program
The START Center Out of School Youth Program,
(ages 17-21) curriculum consists of 16 hours per week of
GED preparation and computer literacy skills. Within the
core training each student has the opportunity to:
- Participate in a job skills training program
- Work at a part-time job funded by the program of 10-20
hours per week
- Receive career counseling.
- Financial aid assistance to continue their education
- Participate in a Money Management program.
- Participate in healthy behavior screenings and workshops
held regularly by health professionals.
- In the case of young mothers or fathers, participate
in Healthy Child workshops
- Participate in local Civic activities that promote the
importance of community involvement, and citizenship.
START
Center encourages students in the job search process,
and will provide techniques on seeking and securing employment.
Career services include assistance with resume writing,
interviewing skills, and identifying job openings
